MeshCoreSniffer v1.2.0 (Linux x64)
Linux release.
Changes in v1.2.0:
- Added native Linux builds for both the CLI and the desktop GUI.
- The GUI now enumerates RTL-SDR devices on Linux through the runtime-loaded
librtlsdr, so live receive works the same as on Windows. - Map tiles are fetched over HTTPS with libcurl on Linux (optional at build
time). - Linux file picker uses
zenity; "open data folder" usesxdg-open. - GUI history, keys, settings and tile cache default to
$XDG_DATA_HOME/MeshCoreSniffer(or~/.local/share/MeshCoreSniffer). - The Windows build is unchanged and still uses WinHTTP, the native file
dialog,%LOCALAPPDATA%and the existing GUI build scripts.
Includes:
MeshCoreSniffer(console receiver)MeshCoreSniffer-gui(desktop GUI)LICENSE,NOTICE.md,README.md, screenshotslicenses/for Dear ImGui and Ed25519
Requirements (Debian/Ubuntu):
sudo apt install libglfw3 libsqlite3-0 libcurl4 libgl1 rtl-sdrUsage:
./MeshCoreSniffer
./MeshCoreSniffer --iq capture.wav
./MeshCoreSniffer-gui
./MeshCoreSniffer-gui --wav capture.wav --start --exit-after 15Live RTL-SDR receive requires the rtl-sdr runtime package and appropriate
udev permissions. Offline IQ WAV decoding works without an RTL-SDR.
The GUI is RX-only. See NOTICE.md for the OpenITC-derived GUI attribution
and bundled third-party licenses.
MeshCoreSniffer v1.1.0 (Windows x64)
Desktop GUI release.
Changes in v1.1.0:
- Added MeshCoreSniffer-gui.exe, a Dear ImGui + GLFW desktop dashboard.
- Fixed dashboard with a live node map, chat channels, key manager, packet log,
packet inspector, statistics and event log. - RTL-SDR or streaming IQ WAV sources, with US/EU band presets and custom
frequency. - Add/remove/enable 16- or 32-byte channel keys; public key always enabled.
- Map markers for adverts with location (Esri World Imagery by default; cached
under%LOCALAPPDATA%\MeshCoreSniffer\tiles). - SQLite history, keys and settings under
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MeshCoreSniffer. - CSV/JSON export and a live chat view with sender/hop/timestamp detail.
- GUI is receive-only. The console decoder is unchanged from v1.0.3, including
the 250 kHz default, in-band trigger and corrected RTL-SDR gain mode.

Includes:
MeshCoreSniffer.exe(console receiver, unchanged)MeshCoreSniffer-gui.exe(desktop GUI)librtlsdr.dll,libusb-1.0.dll,glfw3.dll,libsqlite3-0.dllLICENSE,NOTICE.md,README.md, screenshotslicenses/for ImGui, stb_image, GLFW, SQLite, librtlsdr and libusb
Requirements:
- Windows x64.
- RTL-SDR live mode needs the WinUSB driver installed (e.g. with Zadig).
- Offline IQ WAV decode works without an RTL-SDR.
Usage:
MeshCoreSniffer.exe
MeshCoreSniffer-gui.exe
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --iq capture.wav
MeshCoreSniffer-gui.exe --wav capture.wav --start --exit-after 15
The GUI is RX-only; the CLI MeshCoreSniffer.exe remains available and
unchanged. See NOTICE.md for the OpenITC-derived GUI attribution and bundled
third-party licenses.
MeshCoreSniffer v1.0.3 (Windows x64)
Portable Windows x64 build.
Changes in v1.0.3:
- Fixed the RTL-SDR gain mode. librtlsdr uses
0 = automaticand1 = manual, so the previous code ran at minimum gain for--gain autoand ignored--gain <dB>. Live decoding now gets the gain you ask for. - Live trigger now measures in-band energy instead of broadband RMS, with a rolling-median noise floor. Weak/moderate packets trigger, and noise spikes can no longer leave the receiver stuck false-triggering.
- End-of-burst detection uses a median window, so impulse noise no longer stretches captures to the 2 s limit or truncates packets.
- Live mode now defaults to 250 kHz (4x oversampling of the 62.5 kHz channel), matching the known-good IQ recordings. 500 kHz and 1 MHz still work via
--rate. - Faster failure paths (bounded burst/phase search, no full-rate fallback above 4x oversampling), so the receiver keeps up with the sample stream.
- Added a diagnostic
--dump-dir DIRoption to save captured bursts as WAV files.
Includes:
- MeshCoreSniffer.exe
- librtlsdr.dll
- libusb-1.0.dll
- licenses/ (librtlsdr GPL-2.0, libusb LGPL-2.1)
Live RTL-SDR is the default. On Windows the RTL-SDR needs the WinUSB driver installed (e.g. with Zadig).
Usage:
MeshCoreSniffer.exe
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --key
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --freq 869.525
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --iq capture.wav
If live decode still fails, run with --verbose to see trigger, capture and decoder diagnostics.
MeshCoreSniffer v1.0.2 (Windows x64)
Portable Windows x64 build.
Changes in v1.0.2:
- Restored the fractional timing phase search as a fallback after the full-rate/demod path. This fixes the no-decode regression introduced in v1.0.1 for captures whose preamble lands on an awkward sample phase.
- Full-rate demodulation is still tried before the slow phase search, so normal packets stay fast.
Includes:
- MeshCoreSniffer.exe
- librtlsdr.dll
- libusb-1.0.dll
- licenses/ (librtlsdr GPL-2.0, libusb LGPL-2.1)
Live RTL-SDR is the default. On Windows the RTL-SDR needs the WinUSB driver installed (e.g. with Zadig).
Usage:
MeshCoreSniffer.exe
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --key
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --freq 869.525
MeshCoreSniffer.exe --iq capture.wav
If live decode still fails, run with --verbose to see whether bursts trigger and whether a preamble/header is found.
MeshCoreSniffer v1.0.1 (Windows x64)
Portable Windows x64 build.
Changes in v1.0.1:
- Reduced live decode latency. The decoder now uses a single decimated timing phase and falls back to full-rate demodulation, which cuts per-burst processing time substantially and avoids long stalls on busy/long packets.
- Bundled librtlsdr.dll is loaded from the application folder first, so the zip is self-contained.
Includes:
- MeshCoreSniffer.exe
- librtlsdr.dll
- libusb-1.0.dll
