[BUG] Transition issue between slides or at the end of any video

Description

I am using a Raspberry Pi 4 w/ 8gb RAM and SD card for storage. The SD card is an Amazon Basics class 10. I am getting 1-2 second pauses between slides or at the end of videos that display a blank screen. I've attempted multiple file types, optimized files for fast start, running Anthias using the image on Pi Imager as well as on top of Raspberry Pi OS. File size, pulling the files from the web, or optimizing the files for faststart haven't changed anything.

Steps to Reproduce

Install Anthias, set up multiple images OR one video on a loop. Observe pauses between images or after the video.

Expected Behavior

No pauses between slides or after video.

Environment

• Device: Rapsberry Pi 4 8GB
• OS: Raspberry Pi OS from Pi Imager and Anthias from Pi Imager
• Anthias Version: Unknown, but most up to date.
• Installation Method: Manual installation on Raspberry Pi OS and used Pi Imager and installed Anthias, both have same issue.

Thanks for sharing the details. The 1–2 second blank screen between slides is a known limitation of how the viewer service hands off between the webview and the media player. There's a gap while the player opens the file, decodes the first frame, and acquires the display.

A seamless transition would require a significant architectural change to how media playback is handled, but we'll look into it when we get the chance and continue exploring incremental improvements in the meantime.

@alex-in-chains, we just deployed the changes. To update Anthias, you could run the following command on your device that runs Raspberry Pi OS Lite:

bash <(curl -sL https://install-anthias.srly.io)
