2005 Ultimate Revival List

A fork of ShockAwer's OIC list. Poor man's Awesome OIC list if you may.

Also known as: The Illusion of Free Choice

(take note that this is currently in 2005; I will add more revivals from 2006, 2007, as years go by. things from somewhat before 2005 are also ok to add.)

Video Sharing

Video sharing service revivals such as YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

  • KamTape - A faithful recreation of YouTube in 2005. Made by the original creator of this repository, jrs.
  • StupidVideos - What they used before YouTube. Was brought back sometime in 2016.

Messaging / Social Networking

Revivals of messaging services such as MSN Messenger, AOL, etc., and recreations of social networks like Facebook, Myspace, etc.

  • AOLEmu - A complete emulation of the AOL service.
  • Escargot - A back-end recreation of the MSN / Windows Live Messenger service. Its sister service, NINA, will support Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, and the like. Made by Animadoria, tonyshowoff, etc.
  • Runningman Network - A back-end recreation of the AOL Instant Messenger service. Ran by... god knows who.
  • TheRetrobook - A recreation of 2006 Facebook.
  • Angiru - A recreation of mid-2000's Orkut.

Photo Sharing

  • Snippr - Recreation of Flickr around when it originally launched. Includes photos, accounts, much more.

Games

Revivals of popular games. Roblox revivals will not be added here, but you can find them on the subreddit r/oldrobloxrevivals

  • Habbo.bz - A recreation of 2006 Habbo
  • Virtupet - A recreation of 2005-06 Neopets.
  • Grundo's Cafe - A recreation of 2005-06 Neopets. Updates for new paintbrushes and similar items are pushed out regularly.
  • Scape05 - A recreation of 2005 RuneScape.

Misc.

  • Toonami: Aftermath - Pretty sick revival of Toonami from the mid 2000s. Also includes revivals of Nickelodeon and MTV from around 1997.

Upcoming

  • Social Networking: NewSpace, a complete recreation of Myspace circa 2005. Ran by the same dude who runs Retrobook.
