KeyForge is a secure, portable password manager built with Python and Tkinter, designed to keep your credentials and notes safe wherever you go. Whether you're on Windows, macOS, or Linux, KeyForge runs from a USB stick, encrypting your data with a master password and protecting it with tamper detection. This wiki is your go-to resource for understanding, using, and contributing to KeyForge.
KeyForge combines powerful security with ease of use:
- Encrypted Storage: Passwords and notes are secured with PBKDF2-derived keys and AES-GCM encryption.
- Password Tools: Generate strong passwords, manage credentials, and add 2FA support.
-
Portability: Hidden files (e.g.,
.passwords.json) stay next to the executable, perfect for USB use. - Tamper Protection: Detects unauthorized changes and wipes data to keep it safe.
Released as standalone executables, KeyForge is ready to download from our GitHub Releases.
- Cross-Platform: Works seamlessly across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- No Installation: Runs directly from a USB or local folder.
- User-Friendly: Dynamic UI with features like password strength meters and clipboard integration.
- Open Source: Built by the community, for the community—contributions welcome!
