More persistant "fn"?

I find myself wanting to annotate, and then go back to whatever app I was using, and then annotate some more.

Currently I can do this with the fn key (Mac), but I have to hold it down. It'd be nice to be able to toggle it in a more persistent way.

Definitely I second this.

Today I switched from Demo Pro to Presentify, and maybe this is only the feature Presentify doesn't provide while Demo Pro does.

In Demo Pro, one can press Ctrl-s to enter an annotation session and re-press Ctrl-s to leave the session while keeping to display the annotation. When one wants to clear the annotation, they press Shift-Ctrl-x (for example).

(I know there exists interactive mode for this, but if only that was more accessible e.g. via keyboard shortcuts.)
