This PR merges the
1.8.1release intomaster, as the changeset contains some crucial fixes for the publication process as well as the build dependencies.See #37 and #39 for more details.
However, the original
1.x-devbranch should not be deleted. It is going to be used going forward to develop1.x.features, should any follow.
