Support for other camera brands? #24

Well, I don't mind if someone wants to add it, but it is not something I can "just" do on my own. I don't have any of these cameras, have no idea about their Bluetooth protocol and I would not even have known that they could be controlled via BLE. Also, unless they use the same protocol as the Sony cameras (which would really surprise me in a good way), there is probably not that much benefit in adding them into the same app opposed to creating a new app reusing the base structure of α remote. The problem is that these other cameras very likely will have different keys, different features available via Bluetooth (still have not implemented the GPS stuff for Sony) and different quirks to work around, so one would probably end up spending more time making α remote's code more modular than it would take to create a separate app. (Although the modular approach might be better thing in the long run.) So, I would be happy if someone wants to try it, but that's not something I would tackle anytime soon. |
Uh oh!

Hey,
I'd tested it on my Sony camera and I really like the app, but I would love also to be able to control my other cameras, mainly Lumix, maybe my old Canon. I know, the name says "alpha", but you have a really promising app for other people like me, who would love to use an open alternative to the stupid prop' apps from the manufacturers. Any chance you might consider that request?
