ArcadeDuck v0.5.1 – First Public Release

After a lot of development, testing, reverse engineering, broken builds, questionable decisions, and more testing than I care to admit, ArcadeDuck is officially available for its first public release.

ArcadeDuck is a PS1-based arcade emulator focused on recreating original arcade hardware, functionality, cabinet features, and games that aren't always well represented by a standard console emulator.

This is still very much a work in progress. Expect bugs, incomplete features, games with quirks, and controls that may not always be configured or labeled correctly. This release is the starting point, not the finish line.

Quick introduction, setup guide & demo:
Intro & setup

Reporting Issues

If you encounter a bug, crash, compatibility problem, incorrect control mapping, audio/video issue, or anything else that appears broken, please post it in the appropriate bug/issues Discord channel. Discord Invite

Once the GitHub repository becomes public, GitHub Issues will be the preferred place for reproducible bugs and technical problems so they can be properly tracked.

Suggestions & Feature Requests

Please use the appropriate suggestions/requests Discord channel for new features, hardware support, quality-of-life improvements, or other ideas rather than mixing them into bug reports.

GitHub

The main ArcadeDuck GitHub repository will remain private for a few more days while I finish:

  • Proper build instructions
  • Packaging/documenting the required dependencies
  • Cleaning up the remaining framework for currently unimplemented systems
  • Making the project easier for other developers to build and contribute to

Once that is finished, the repository will be opened publicly.

Platform Support

For this initial release, ArcadeDuck is Windows only.

Linux support is planned, but I need a better dedicated Linux development/test system before I can properly develop, test, and support builds instead of releasing something I can't adequately validate.

Thanks to everyone who has followed the project, tested builds, reported problems, and watched this thing grow.

Now break it.
