🔧 Minor bug fix and audio handling update for the YouTube Subtitle Downloader script using Faster Whisper.

✅ What’s New

  • Fixed issues with audio not downloading properly for Faster Whisper transcription.
  • Improved YouTube signature extraction handling with yt-dlp by switching to --no-check-certificates and fallback handling.
  • Skips audio download if manually uploaded subtitles are present.
  • Added automatic check for:
    • Homebrew installation
    • Python 3.8+ (required for virtualenv)
  • Automatically creates and activates whisper-env virtual environment if not already present.
  • Changed name of script to make more sense, script now called: yt-video-downloader vx.x.x

💡 Notes

  • Uses macOS system-safe $TMPDIR for all temp files.
  • Subtitles are auto-cleaned, validated, and embedded with mkvmerge.
