It's already been for many releases, but a lot of times when closing Subtitle Edit (or the Visual sync screen), it just hangs and in the end windows just asks if you want to close it or wait.
At the moment I'm using the VLC player (on windows 10 x64 pro, latest versions of player, windows, subtitleedit, nvidia driver (RTX2060super)), but I get it with about every videoplayer I tried.
It's not every single time, but it does happen a lot of times.
