General Operation
Elite Intel is designed for natural interaction. This page describes the key concepts for effective use. Memorizing specific commands is not required. Speak naturally and the AI determines your intent.
Elite Intel handles tasks such as deploying landing gear, heat sinks, and hardpoints; toggling supercruise; initiating hyperspace jumps; opening cargo scoops; displaying maps; activating the Filtered Spectrum Scanner (FSS); switching between combat and analysis modes; opening UI panels; playing GalNet news; and issuing commands to deployed fighters. It cannot fire weapons or operate a controller, HOTAS, or mouse. Only keyboard-mapped controls are accessible.
Be direct for best results. "Deploy landing gear" executes immediately. Vague requests such as "prepare for landing" may result in a verbal acknowledgment without action. The AI interprets intent, so clear phrasing produces more reliable results.
Elite Intel performs data analysis from in-game journal files, EDSM, and session data such as FSS scans. Specific queries return detailed answers. Broad queries return summaries.
- Exploration: After scanning a system, ask about life, rings, minerals, or terraformable worlds. Scans must be completed before querying, as the AI requires scan data. "What is in this system?" returns a summary. "Any terraformable planets?" returns specific results.
- In the Bubble: Ask about security, threat assessments, or points of interest. For example, "Are there hazardous resource sites here?" may return "No hazardous sites, but there are low and high resource sites," or only "No hazardous sites found" if the query was specifically about hazardous sites. Broader questions such as "Any resource sites around?" return broader answers. The AI does not list every signal unless asked.
- EDSM Data: The AI uses EDSM data for markets and points of interest. EDSM is crowd-sourced and may not be current.
- Missions: For pirate massacre missions, ask "How many kills left?" or "What is the potential profit?" The AI tracks progress and bounties collected.
- Carrier Stats: Query carrier status with commands such as "Use reserve balance, how long can we run the carrier with 31 million credits per week?" The AI does not know which balance is used for carrier upkeep. Specify the balance when querying. Specific questions return precise answers. Broad queries such as "How is the carrier doing?" return general summaries of credits and fuel levels.
The AI also supports general knowledge queries beyond Elite Dangerous.
In modes other than Professional, Elite Intel supports general conversation. In Professional Mode, it responds only to commands and queries. Other modes allow open-ended conversation. Rogue Mode includes casual and off-topic dialogue.
Experiment with commands and queries to discover Elite Intel's full capabilities. Clear phrasing produces the most reliable results. Report issues or questions on Matrix. Contributions are welcome.
