User Guide

⚠️ Rewaita only styles GTK-3/4 applications; other UI toolkits will not be affected.

Table of Contents

Getting Started

  1. Run the Flatpak override commands. This ensures Flatpak applications are themed accordingly. See Flatpak Overrides below for details.

  2. Change the system theme. Many Linux distributions set a custom GTK theme by default. To prevent conflicts, change the application theme to the default or Adwaita.

  3. Automatic switching. Rewaita runs in the background to switch between light/dark mode and accent color changes. This can be disabled in preferences.

  4. Found a bug or want to contribute? Open an issue or pull request in the upstream repository. See Get Involved for details.

Flatpak Overrides

Run these commands so Flatpak applications can use your theme.

GTK-3.0

sudo flatpak override --filesystem=xdg-config/gtk-3.0:rw

GTK-4.0

sudo flatpak override --filesystem=xdg-config/gtk-4.0:rw
