Installation: Client

Installing the Blood on the Clocktower modpack on the client side is extremely easy. This guide will walk you through how to install, configure, and ultimately join a game of Blood on the Clocktower!

Installing the Modpack

In order to use the modpack, you first need a launcher. If you're new to modding Minecraft, it's heavily recommended that you use the Modrinth App, as it's the native launcher the pack is designed for. If you don't want to use Modrinth, you could also use Prism or MultiMC. CurseForge will likely never be supported.

Once you've downloaded your launcher of choice, you'll need to install the modpack. If you're using the Modrinth App, you can do this from within the app itself by clicking Discover Content on the left sidebar and searching Modpacks for Blood on the Clocktower and selecting the one by Sybillian. If you're using another launcher, you'll likely need the latest .mrpack from the official page.

Configuring the Modpack (optional)

Most every mod in the pack comes pre-configured such that you won't need to change anything. The one thing that you'll need to do for sure is configure your voice chat settings. You will be prompted and given a walkthrough on how to do this the first time you join a game, but if you'd like to do it in advance, you can join a singleplayer version of the map by holding left shift and clicking on the Blood on the Clocktower logo in the main menu.

By default, you will be using Minecraft-style pixel art icons for every character in the game, as designed by members of our wonderful Discord community. If you want to use more familiar icons, you can go to Options -> Resource Packs and enable "Playtest Icons" from the list of available packs on the left. Just mind that these might look a little grainy in-game, as Minecraft doesn't do very well with downscaling images like these.

Joining a Game

On the main menu once you've launched Blood on the Clocktower, click Play Game to open the multiplayer server list. From there, click Add Server. To join a Minecraft server, you need an IP address, so ask your Storyteller for it and paste it into the Server Address field. The Server Name is for your own reference and can be whatever you want. Click Done, and the server will now be permanently listed on your multiplayer screen to join whenever you like!

If you want to play and don't have an established group, or just want to meet new people, feel free to join our Discord! We run games for all skill levels using this modpack several times a week, and everyone there is very welcoming to new players. Hope to see you there!
