Since this fork is picking up traffic, it's worth being clear about what it is and what it isn't.
AppManagerNG continues from Muntashir Akon's App Manager, which remains upstream and deserves the credit for the foundation. NG exists because I wanted a maintained line with its own priorities: current SDK targets, dependency updates on my cadence rather than upstream's, and some opinions about which features earn their complexity.
Current release is v0.6.7. A lot of recent effort went into something unglamorous: making the release claims honest. The docs now state only what the artifacts actually support, the installer compatibility rows describe SDK levels accurately, and the changelog reflects reality. Boring work, but it's the difference between a fork you can trust and a fork you have to verify yourself.
If you're choosing between NG and upstream, here's my honest framing. Want the largest feature surface and the original maintainer's direction? Use upstream, it's excellent. Want NG's cadence and curation? Welcome.
