Upgrade to Gradle 5.0 will requires Java 8 or higher.
Should we stop supporting Java 7?
Move to Java 8 or higher if you haven’t already. Whereas Gradle 4.x requires Java 7, Gradle 5 requires Java 8 to run.https://docs.gradle.org/5.0/userguide/upgrading_version_4.html
Added another PR #379 to bump to Java 8 or higher.
