System requirements: You will need a Raspberry Pi and the userland utilities. Also Libcamera will need to be installed.
You will need these required permissions: TODO: ... will investigate which permissions can be set here
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

I have previously built tooling in Python to control the Raspberry Pi camera interface and sensors using the old PiCamera and a fork PiCamerax. I found being highly coupled to a specific tool-set made it difficult to upgrade to the new Libcamera framework. I've made the decision to move my project to Ruby on Rails.
The aim of this project is to create an interface for performing camera operations via Ruby. The design will be agnostic to the underlying tooling to make future expansions and upgrades easier. It will also rely mainly on the default command-line tools to ensure (I hope) the best possible performance. This also means any other tool could be incorporated into this gem as new features are added.
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake test to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
To run tests execute:
$ rake test
