π Privacy & Security
Yoink is designed to be simple, and that includes how your privacy is handled.
No accounts. No tracking. No ads.
You don't need to create an account, sign in, or provide personal information to use Yoink.
Yoink does not require an account.
There is no Yoink account system, no login, and no user profile required to download media.
Just install Yoink and use it.
Yoink does not include:
- Analytics
- Telemetry
- Advertising
- User tracking
Yoink does not send your download history or application settings to a Yoink server.
Yoink stores application information such as your:
- Download history
- Settings
- Preferences
locally on your computer.
Downloaded video and audio files are saved directly to the download location you choose.
Yoink does not upload your download history or settings to a Yoink server.
Yoink does need an internet connection to perform downloads and check for updates.
Depending on what you're doing, Yoink may connect directly to:
- The media service associated with the link you provide
- GitHub's official yt-dlp release infrastructure to install or update yt-dlp
- The official Yoink GitHub repository to check for Yoink updates
These connections are necessary for Yoink's core functionality.
While Yoink itself does not track you, services that Yoink connects to may receive normal network information such as your IP address.
For example, when downloading media, the website providing that media may receive your network request.
Those services operate under their own privacy policies.
Yoink does not act as a VPN, proxy, or anonymity service.
Yoink automatically checks for new versions using the official Yoink GitHub release repository.
This allows Yoink to let you know when an update is available without requiring you to manually check for new releases.
Yoink may also retrieve updates for components such as yt-dlp from their official GitHub release sources.
Only download Yoink from official Yoink sources.
The official releases are available here:
https://github.com/TSKSmile/Yoink/releases
We cannot guarantee the safety or authenticity of Yoink installers downloaded from unofficial third-party websites or reuploads.
If you believe you have discovered a security vulnerability in Yoink, please do not publish the details publicly in GitHub Discussions or a public issue.
Instead, contact us privately at:
When reporting a security issue, please include where possible:
- Your Yoink version
- Your Windows version
- A description of the issue
- Steps to reproduce it
- Relevant screenshots or logs
Please remove any personal or sensitive information from logs before sending them.
