how to add cover art?

it did not import cover art that is in my music meta data and when i right click on the cover art box the options are greyed out. only "search for lyrics" is available. so none of my songs or playlist have cover art

Do you have your songs in a per-album directory?

i.e. if you create a new directory, put one music file there, and drag the directory over, does it add correctly?

im sorry i dont know if i understand. i do have one music folder in finder that has a sub folder with the album songs in it. i just dragged the songs from that folder into the playlist i created. 4 of the songs have cover art that show in the song icon/preview within finder, but dont show once dragged into the app & i cant upload the art either. the title and artist import correctly.
