Food datasets and APIs are really helpful for developers who want to build nutrition, recipe, or restaurant-related apps. Tools like the hre chipotle nutrition calculator make it easier to access accurate meal and calorie information in a simple way. These resources save time and improve user experience in food-based applications. |

Hi everyone,
I’ve been exploring ways to combine coding with food, and I thought it would be fun to start a discussion here. Many developers love food just as much as coding, and there are actually some amazing food-related datasets, APIs, and projects that can be useful for both hobby and professional work.
Some ideas worth sharing:
Recipe APIs – Free and paid APIs that give nutritional info, ingredients, and step-by-step cooking guides.
Food image datasets – Useful for AI/ML projects like food recognition or calorie estimation.
Restaurant menu scrapers – Scripts that track fast-food chains’ menus and prices (like Arby’s, IHOP, Firehouse Subs, etc.).
Nutritional analysis tools – Open-source projects that help calculate calories and macros from meal inputs.
💡 I’d love to hear from others:
Have you worked on a food-related coding project?
Do you know of any open-source repos or APIs for recipes, menus, or nutrition?
What fun ideas could we build around food + code (maybe a “GitHub Cookbook” 🤔)?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
