New Password Issues

I am trying to use Teradata Vantage. However, it is requiring me to use a new password, and every attempt to input a new password fails. It says it is a bad password but does not tells me what qualifies as a good password. What are the criteria for an acceptable password?

@nkuruvil , Vantage Express 17.05 uses hardened security settings. This is the only version that had these settings. If you use 17.10 it will not prompt you to change your password.

The password requirements for 17.05 are configured in /etc/pam.d/common-password. The relevant settings are:

• minlen=14 - the password needs to have at least 14 characters
• dcredit=-1 - at least one digit
• ucredit=-1 - at least one upper case letter
• lcredit=-1 - at least one lower case letter
• ocredit=-1 - at least one character that is neither a letter nor a digit
• difok=8 - when setting a new password, at least 8 characters must be different from the old password
• reject username - the password cannot be the same as the username
