Description
What happened? What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
Boring Notch shows the media widget, and I can play or skip songs, but it does not display the song title, album art, or playback progress. I also cannot pause. The controls are visible, but stuck at 0:00.
Steps I’ve taken:
1. I enabled “Enable music live activity” and “Enable sneak peek” in Media settings.
2. I gave Boring Notch Accessibility permissions under System Settings > Privacy & Security.
3. I opened Spotify first, then launched Boring Notch.
4. I ran tccutil reset AppleEvents in Terminal to reset permissions.
5. I installed the latest version from GitHub.
Problem:
macOS never asks for Automation permission, and Boring Notch never appears under Privacy > Automation, so it can’t control or read Spotify properly.
What did you expect to happen?
The widget should show the current song info and allow full media control (play, pause, skip), with the song name and progress bar updating in real time.
BoringNotch Version

MacOS Version
macOS Sequoia 15.5
Relevant log output
There are no visible error messages but:
• The widget appears and responds to some controls.
• Song info and pause button do not work.
• macOS never prompts for Automation permission, and Boring Notch never appears in the Automation list.
• I’m using the latest version from GitHub.Checks
