Notify 0.15.0
Notify for Windows
The first version for Windows. Download notify-windows-0.15.0.zip, unpack it somewhere you can write to (for example the Desktop or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs) and start Notify\notify.exe. Windows SmartScreen may warn about an unknown app the first time: "More info" → "Run anyway".
Notes are kept in Documents\Notify. Later versions install themselves: ⋮ → "Check for updates…". Every Windows update is signed and checked before it's installed.
The Windows version has the same features as the Android one: drawing and Markdown notes, sync, calendar, PDF backgrounds, export, the document scanner and spell check in German and English. There's no text recognition, Calcify or assistant yet.
Changes
- Windows build (cross-compiled, signed self-updates)
- Android: the same as 0.14.5
Notify 0.14.5
Changes
- Version 0.14.5
- Markdown: long lines fast (md-stress-test), clearer spelling log
- Markdown find and replace: buttons, regex, match case, white space, inline preview, markers
- Pre-Windows list: entries rated !4 or lower wait until after the Windows build
- Handoff: trash folder and loading spinner
- Loading spinner on Linux, held until a note's PDF pages are drawn
- Trash folder in the library: open trashed notes read-only, restore them
- Handoff for the next batch
- CI: no debug info (the 11 GB build filled the runner's disk)
- Handoff: scroll bar gap left open (!4)
- Scroll bars as before (full width, rounded); only the sidebar's, undo history's and Go to note's rows end before them
- Handoff: styling batch
- App look for the library history, Move to / Link to note trees and the assistant's @ list
- Settings: tables, the Code page's lists, Quick wheel and own words in the app's look; the Code page fits in German
- Settings pages fit the window (descriptions wrap, drop-downs whole); a gap before scroll bars; to-do cards stand out in the dark theme
- Handoff: CI test fixes
- Tests pass on CI: tests in Europe/Berlin time, Noto fonts on CI, formula morphs only with a typesetter, expired-certificate row skipped on OpenSSL < 3.4, more time for scratch-out on CI
- Handoff: CI on tags only
- CI only for release tags or by hand
- CI: Qt 6.11.3 (6.8 can't build the code), spell dictionaries for the Android job; Qt 6.11 minimum
- Folding a code block: the fence row's flags and language no longer dim in live preview
- Before the Windows build, batch 2: pointer after menus, to-do title spaces, folds saved, smooth fold at the end, no code block flicker
- Before the Windows build, batch 1: Ctrl+B, typed anchors, scroll speed, folding keeps the view
- Handoff: 0.14.4 published

Calendar
- Notes are Markdown:
[Link](google.com), file links and[[note]]links are clickable, in the dialogs and in a lesson's details. - Shared notes: Notes apply to all lessons of a subject (or all events of the same name), and one date can have its own.
- Folders: assign a library folder to a subject, event or date. Right-click → Show folder or Open folder as project.
- Shorter lesson dialog: date and All day share a row, so do From and Until, and only the notes and folder being changed are shown.
- Details window: Add homework and Add exam share a row.
To-dos
- Lesson choice: Auto (next lesson), Custom or a specific lesson, and the selection now stays. New homework and exams start on Auto. Date and time can only be edited on Custom.
Sign-in
- The copy icon in the sign-in window is full size again.

Changes
- Sign in to GitHub with the GitHub app (recommended): enter a code on GitHub, nothing to create or keep. Sync needs the app installed on your sync repository; the sync window links to it.
- Or use an access token: the sign-in window explains which kinds work and which permissions they need.

Importance for to-dos and tasks
- To-dos: set an importance in the details (1 is the most important); it shows as a badge.
- Lists sort by two things: List settings now has "Order" and "Then by". By default: date, then importance.
- Plain tasks: write
{{!1}}right after the box (- [ ] {{!1}} Hand in the essay) for a badge. A tap on the badge changes it; on a keyboard Ctrl+Alt+1 … 9, Ctrl+Alt+0 for none. - A heading's tasks by importance, for now: a button after a heading with tasks (or Ctrl+Alt+I). Selecting and editing work as if the text stood that way; the note itself keeps its order, and closing the app ends it.

Fixed
- The calendar stayed empty on a device that updated from an older version, until another device pushed something. It now arrives with the first sync after updating.
- A calendar, dictionary, colors or library history that couldn't be fetched is now tried again at the next sync.
New
- More → Sync conflicts… (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R): everything waiting for your decision, at any time, notes and calendar. It stays until you decide, and the menu shows how many wait. It replaces "Don't sync this note" in this menu; a note's context menu still has "Don't sync".
- The calendar merges field by field. A room typed in on one device and a time moved on another both stay. If both changed the same field differently, you decide, instead of the later change silently winning.
Update every device: a device on 0.14.0 still lets the later change win.

Changes
- Calendar (Ctrl+Shift+Y): a timetable imported from an .ics file or typed in by hand, with month, week, day and list views. Edit it visually: drag lessons, resize them, type in rooms and teachers. Lecture-free times, and synced between devices
- Homework and exams: to-do lists of those kinds, with subjects. To-dos appear inside their lessons. Shortcuts in lists like
DS morgen: HA,next DS: HAor:ds:fill in the subject and the next lesson - Move to-dos between lists: context menu or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+M
- More kinds of lists in Markdown notes: letters (
a.,b.), Roman numerals (i.,ii.) and arrows (->,=>, shown as → and ⇒). They continue on Enter, nest and renumber like numbered lists. Lines like "z. B. …" stay plain text - Fixed: holding a click could open a menu when a window had opened on the press
- Fixed: Vim entries in the shortcuts window and the Vim command bar showed in English in German

Changes
- Vim keys for Markdown notes, optional and off by default: Settings → Markdown, or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V. Modes, operators with counts, motions and text objects, registers, marks, macros,
., search, and commands like:s,:g,:sort,:normaland:map. One undo step per command - Vim's carets: a block, its lower half while an operator like
dorywaits, an underline forr, a bar in insert mode, and the block's middle cut out while a command likegwaits for its next key - A small panel floats over the text only when needed: the command line, messages, a macro being recorded. On touch devices a small Esc button out of normal mode
ggandGstay in a code block, then go on to the whole note:15and searches show a blue block on the target first: Esc goes back, Enter goes there
Notify 0.12.2
Changes
- Notes: "Copy path" in the sidebar and library menus gives a link from the library's root, like
[[/Folder/Note]] - Dragging a note from the sidebar into a note inserts that link (a text box on drawing notes); outside of notes it stays the file
- Anchors, headings and note links: "Copy path" too
- Enter keeps a marker on the line it was on
- Selecting across a link badge no longer flickers
- Sidebar header: expand/collapse all, find the open note, and a menu for new notes and folders
Notify 0.12.1
Changes
- Sidebar: moving a note by drag & drop or right-clicking it no longer opens it
- Markdown header: format buttons show as toggled when a click would revert the selection's format
- Note links look like file links, with an icon for valid, would create a note, or leading nowhere
- Recognize text in an area reads text and formulas together; "Recognize handwritten formula" is gone
- Move to dialog: the selected folder stands out from its row
- Dialog buttons: a blue button's icon has the same color as its text
- Go to note: Shift Shift chooses the row you opened last
- Markers: a set marker is struck through while hovered
- Library history is no longer in the header's menu (it stays in the library)
