Crash when trying to pair controller with sync button and could not request preferred connection params

When I get to the prompt that tells me to sync the joycon the program crashes after I press the sync button. I can get around that by doing sync before I get to the prompt but even afterwards I get the error "Warning: Could not request preferred connection parameters." I have tested both joycons, installed dependencies and ran as admin.
