Nationwide View
To start with click on the link on the top left of the page entitled: "MORTALITYMINDER". Following this the site will navigate to the page called "Nationwide View". It looks like this:
Next, we will review the functionality of this page. On the top, you will see a grey bar (orange arrow). To the right of the grey bar, there will be a state name (red arrow). To the right of the state name, there will be a cause of death (blue arrow). For state name and cause of death you can click the drop down to change the parameter.
There is a grey column on the far left of the page. It contains a brief summary of our app and some concise instructions.
Next to the grey column, you will see a map in shades of red - the red shows the range of deaths in that county for the year range selected. There will be a tab where you can select years. To change the year shown, press the button to your desired year.
On the right of the map, you will see a graph. It shows trend-lines for the state you select and the trend for the nation. The green vertical line will move with the year. This allows you to see whether the state is above or below the national average in number of deaths per thousand for the selected cause of death from 2000-2017.
On the far right, you will see an arrow. Click to turn the page.
