Low Battery

Every battery Device Sentinel finds is watched by default. New devices with batteries are picked up automatically the moment they appear; there is nothing to register.

How a Battery Is Judged

A battery is flagged when its level is at or below the threshold (default 20 percent, adjustable on this screen and as a dashboard number).

A flagged battery clears once it climbs 2 points above the threshold. The margin exists because battery readings rebound: a cell under load dips, rests, and recovers a point or two. Without the margin, a battery sitting exactly at the line would flap in and out of the report. With it, a clear is a genuine recovery.

The time a battery first crossed the threshold is kept across restarts, so "low since Tuesday" stays true through a reboot.

Where a device reports both a percentage battery and a low-battery flag, the percentage is used: it says how low, not just that it is low. If a device's percentage entity disappears, the flag entity is elected in its place automatically.

The Excludes

Excluding a battery here stops battery reports for that device only. Everything else about the device stays watched. To drop a device from all reporting, use Global Exclusions.

Three lists, broad to narrow: integration, label, device. They interact the same way as the global lists: exclude at a higher level and save, and everything it covers disappears from the lists below.

Integrations. One tick covers every battery that integration owns, present and future. The usual first tick is mobile_app, which covers every phone and tablet at once, including ones you have not bought yet.

Labels. Any device carrying one of these labels stops being reported for a low battery. Set the label on the device's own page and it applies without opening the dialog.

Devices. Every listed device has a tracked battery, shown with its elected battery entity. Checked devices are excluded from battery reporting.

There is no entity list on this screen. Battery judgment belongs to the device, and elections mean the judged entity can change; a device-level exclude cannot be slipped by that.
