Opal is a new nether gem, used in crafting recipes for several new items. It can be obtained from opal clusters, a block produced in the opal geode. It doesn't do much on it's own, and is more used as a crafting ingredient for other new items. Like amethyst, it can be used as a trim material.
The opal spyglass, crafted like a normal spyglass but with opal instead of amethyst, when used, creates an outline around the block you are looking at. The position you are looking at trough the spyglass, can be saved by pressing the attack button while using it (default: left click), now when you let go of the spyglass, the outline will stay at the position you saved, effectively marking a block.
The opal tiara is a new armor item, it's defense and durability being quite bad, but it having the special property that it makes ghasts neutral to the wearer. A great piece of equipment for when you don't want to worry being attacked out of nowhere when bridging across a lava lake.
Another new armor item, the mushroom cap's defense and durability are not that great as well. But it fully protects you from getting hurt by the spores in the mushroom wastes. On top of that, poison will only apply half as long to you when wearing it.
These arrows are made by replacing the flint in the arrow crafting recipe with amethyst or opal respectively. When fired from a bow, these arrows will shatter on impact, doing slight damage to entities around the impact, regardless if this was a block or entity. As these arrows shatter, they cannot be reclaimed after firing. The only difference between the amethyst and opal arrow is the particle effect on impact.
Obtained from the extremely volatile bomb plant, bomb flowers are throwable projectiles that explode on impact. This explosion cannot break any blocks. The explosion strength of this item can be adjusted in the config.
