+1 for this. Not really sure what can be done without having to install a tweak, but Apple's docs show some cool features. It could be similar to the HTML5 <audio> API.

So basically this should already be possible using NodObjC, you'd just need to translate use the Objective-C APIs in NodObjC. This module is somewhat deprecated in favor of NodObjC, so I encourage you to try that out.

Sounds great, unfortunately I get multiple errors trying to install NodObjC via npm on the iphone. Haven't had success building it correctly on iOS5 due gcc problems.. It seems https://tootallnate.net/how-to-set-up-gcc-on-ios-4 tutorial doesn't works for iOS5.

Could you open an Issue for NodObjC with any troubles you have getting it running? Ohhhh, most likely you are having trouble compiling node-ffi, right?

Also thanks for the tip on the blog article. Looks like I'll have to look into what's different and write a new blog post soon.

Yes, root issues come from ffi with the following errors :

I'm sure issues come from gcc compiler because I had many problems compiling node-iOS so finally had to install the precompiler package from https://github.com/TooTallNate/node/downloads

Right, you're missing some headers it looks like. There's another package on Cydia that downloads and sets up all the compilation toolchain for you (@innoying remember the name?), maybe that would work in the meantime.

But regarding this module, I haven't even been able to make any progress on it in a long time (see #14).

Also, I'm already working on this for a different project. And to do it properly you do need a tweak server that is running in springboard.

I think I know implement this feature using MPMusicPlayerController class so if I success on compiling NodObjC I am going to try to code it.

Try re-running it. If that doesn't work, run this:
curl -O https://tootallnate.net/how-to-set-up-gcc-on-ios-4/fake-libgcc_1.0_iphoneos-arm.deb
dpkg -i fake-libgcc_1.0_iphoneos-arm.deb

Then try running installsdk3 agian.
