This is the easiest way to do it, assuming that contributors will add either a Python or a MATLAB notebook or two separate ones. We could also add an R directory eventually. These categories show up in the navbar. Some style changes have been made to accomodate this organization better, including using the pydata_sphinx_theme, which is a bit more minimal than sphinx_book_theme, but otherwise works quite similarly.
