Null Pointer Exception in Direct Hello World

I followed the instructions up to: Setup Direct via the config-ui

The webserver doesn't seem to be saving the domain, and many of the links throw null pointer exceptions. The attached screen shots show the progression:

The last screen shot is the result of clicking "search"
