Created a TypeType Android App in my free time

Hello! Just wanted to share that I made an Android mobile app for TypeType using the pre-existing frontend, along with a few personal changes. I'd love to get your thoughts on it! :)

Hey @LuckeeSoft, okay, this may genuinely be the worst timing possible :p

I was actually preparing to announce the public beta of the native TypeType Android app today. I have been building it privately for quite a while, so there was absolutely no way for u to know about it before sharing ur project.

It is built from the ground up as a native Kotlin client and follows a very different vision. Urs brings the existing TypeType frontend to Android and adapts it for mobile, while mine is a separate native client built around the TypeType API. I honestly think both approaches can coexist.

I am genuinely sorry because I do not want today’s announcement to make it seem like I am dismissing ur work or suddenly trying to compete with something u just shared. That is absolutely not my intention.

If u are okay with it, I would be happy to credit ur project in the Android announcement and present it as an alternative community client. I can also link to it from the TypeType project so people can choose the approach they prefer.

Thx for sharing it, and sorry again for this absurd timing. I would still really like to test ur app and see where u want to take it :)

I’ll whisper it to you, but don’t say it too loudly… Yes, it’s definitely planned! 😄

I’ve been working on it for quite some time, and I finally managed to get a “macOS” environment up and running. This means I can finally compile some f*cking Swift code and test the app in the iOS Simulator! 😂

The next platform I’m planning to release on is iOS, starting with a beta through TestFlight. I’ll then take some time to gather feedback, fix any issues, and let things settle before moving on.

After that, the plan is to work on Android TV, and eventually Apple TV, if everything is stable and there’s enough interest.

I’m taking things slowly on purpose because I want to collect as much feedback as possible at every stage. My experience as a developer has taught me not to rush releases; I’m also completely obsessed with testing, and I want to be confident in both my code and the app itself before releasing it more widely.

I try to test as much as I possibly can, but I’m still always impressed by the bugs you guys manage to find! 😂
