Adding a new minigame to the AstroBalance project.
Level Description
Therapeutic Goal
Gaze stabilization during head movement in yaw and pitch (alternate yaw and pitch per game played).
Core Mechanics
Gaze stabilization during head movement in yaw and pitch (alternate yaw and pitch per game played).
Long Description
The child focuses on a central target (number) while moving their head horizontally or vertically. The target should be a
red number against a black background. The Tobii tracker measures gaze stability and head movement speed. The player must maintain visual focus on the target as it changes, ensuring engagement and providing a functional task. The flames grow larger as the child moves their head and reduces in size if they stop moving the head. The number (target) changes randomly every 0.5-1 second if they maintain gaze. The instruction to the child is to move their head side to side to power the rocket, while reading the numbers out loud which is the launch code. Once the child has done this for 30 seconds, then they complete the game, and an animation of the rocket being launched is shown. They are then taken to a report that displays badges earned.
Adaptive Difficulty
Gradually increase (or decrease) speed of head movement required to launch the flames depending on performance. Gradually increase display duration from 30 seconds to 40, then 50, up to 2 minutes.
