Error on homepage when an item is submitted without an image

When an item is submitted without an image the following error appears on the home page:

I'm having a hard time reproducing this one. I tried submitting an item without an image, and the homepage seems happy with it. I looked at the line of code mentioned in the error message, and it looks like that message would be caused if Omeka tried to retrieve the most recently submitted item and failed (getting instead an error, or or no item at all). Perhaps this doesn't have to do with the lack of an image, but happens in some other circumstance? Maybe Omeka was temporarily having trouble connecting to the database?

This error was showing up on the homepage at one point, but then it went away. Maybe we should wait and see if it pops up again, and fix it then.

That makes sense to me. I'll leave this open for now, and if we don't see the error again for a few weeks we can close the issue pending further errors.
