Do I have to put my project in the organisation?

Only valuable, finished or shared work belongs here. Experiments and work in progress should stay on your personal account until they are ready. Group-specific work may belong in a research group's own organisation instead. See the Contributing guide.

I cannot see a repository I expect to. Why?

Access is granted through teams. You are probably not yet a member of the relevant team. Ask a repository administrator, failing which an organisation administrator.

Can I keep working on my project after I graduate?

Yes. Transfer the valuable copy into the organisation, then fork it back to your personal account to continue independently.

Can I make my repository public?

Yes, and it is encouraged, but public repositories are held to a higher standard and need a LICENSE. Consult your supervisor and the UCT Intellectual Property Guidelines first. See Transferring a Repository and the Contributing guide.

Where do student marks and submissions go?

Not in any repository, ever. Keep them on UCT-controlled storage such as OneDrive or Amathuba.

Why can members edit this wiki but external people cannot?

The wiki inherits the permissions of the repository it belongs to. By default only people with write access can edit it.
