About The Organization

MocSec offers students real word experience in operating system and network security, development, and operations. Members also have opportunities to compete in cyber security competitions.

Leadership Team

President

Role: Leads the organization and oversees all official activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Preside over all MocSec meetings; represent the club at campus events and partner organizations.
  • Serve as chair of the Executive Board and assign duties to officers and members.
  • Ensure all officers are fulfilling their responsibilities and address issues of due diligence as needed.
  • Appoint individuals to fill leadership or committee vacancies.
  • Cast tie-breaking votes when necessary.
  • Call and lead special meetings when needed.
  • Act as the official spokesperson for MocSec.
  • Ensure all club operations align with UTC policies and procedures.

Vice President

Role: Supports the President and ensures the organization follows its governing documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as aide to the President and assume presidential duties in their absence.
  • Enforce club bylaws and help maintain consistent operation of the chapter.
  • Work closely with the President to plan and facilitate meetings, events, and activities.
  • Assist in safeguarding the organization by monitoring officer responsibilities and performance.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts and help grow membership.
  • Support planning and execution of all club meetings and initiatives.

Secretary

Role: Manages records, documentation, communications, and key operational logistics.

Responsibilities:

  • Take minutes during meetings and maintain accurate records of all club activities.
  • Notify members of upcoming meetings and events.
  • Maintain and update membership records.
  • Create and publish flyers, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Manage and track all club assets (computers, equipment, software, books, etc.).
    • May delegate asset management to an appointed member, with oversight.
  • Maintain financial records when functioning in a combined Secretary/Treasurer role.
  • Prepare press releases or news summaries of club activities when serving as Reporter (or oversee a delegated Reporter).
  • Publish meeting records on the club website where applicable.
  • Provide financial or operational statements to the Executive Board whenever requested.
  • Prepare and present the annual report and proposed yearly budget with input from mentors and the Executive Board.
  • Attend all formal meetings.

Treasurer

Role: Oversees finances and ensures fiscal responsibility and transparency.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records at all times.
  • Handle all financial transactions for the organization.
  • Assist the President in preparing the annual budget request.
  • Create and present financial reports at the start of each fall and spring semester, or upon request.
  • Produce financial documentation required for university advisors, Executive Board members, or the general membership.
  • Ensure all financial activity aligns with UTC policy and organizational standards.

Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of all elected officers — currently the President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Faculty Sponsor. Mentors may also be invited to serve in an advisory role.

Mission:

To conduct the official business of MocSec Cyber Security, make recommendations to the membership, and ensure the organization operates smoothly and effectively throughout the year.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle questions and matters not specifically covered in the governing documents.
  • Make recommendations to the membership and submit an annual report to the Student Executive Council.
  • Meet at least once a month during the school year to discuss club operations, upcoming events, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Schedule special meetings as needed, called by the President or by request of two Executive Board members.
  • Ensure all by-law and fiduciary decisions are advisory, requiring a simple majority vote of the membership to take effect.
  • Oversee and support standing committees, including Program and Membership.

All MocSec members are welcome to attend Executive Board meetings. Notifications for meetings and updates will be shared via email, Discord, and the college newsletter when applicable.

Program Committee

  • Mission: Plan and implement social, cultural, educational, and technical programs.
  • Actively organize competitions such as Capture the Flag, CCDC, and more.

Membership Committee

  • Mission: Grow and strengthen MocSec membership.
  • Develop materials and processes to publicize the benefits of joining.
  • Create opportunities for members to participate in competitions like CCDC.

  • Current UTC Student
  • UTC Alumni
  • UTC Faculty Member
