JamMates

JamMates is a mobile application designed to make music discovery more personal, fun, and community driven. Whether you’re looking to get out of a playlist rut or share your current music obsessions, JamMates is your gateway to exploring tunes that fit your mood and style!

The key features belonging to JamMates are a music genre quiz that recommends a genre based on your answers, an explore page where you can choose to search for your new favorite tune by artist, song, or genre, a main menu screen where you can scroll through and favorite a variety of artists, a profile page where you can update your profile photo, as well as display your favorite artists and lyrics, and lastly, a settings page where you can manage your notifications, account, recent activity, profile visibility, and more.

JamMates is a way to express who you are through what you listen to. Whether you are here to explore, organize, or connect– JamMates is built to help you discover your new favorite music with a personal touch!

Language

This application is written entirely in Java.

Tools and Technology

Adobe XD was used for the original app design protoype. Android Studio was used for the demo (edited on iMovie) and final application.

Installation

This application is not available for public download. It must be accessed through the GitHub file link, which will allow you to run the app on Android Studio.

Instructions: How to Use

Once the application first opens, you will be asked to input a username and password. The username is user1, and the password is password123. Once you have input the correct username and password, the app will take you to the main menu. Here, you may favorite and unfavorite artists appearing on the display, as well as navigate to whichever screen you desire using the blue buttons! You may log out by pressing the LOG OUT button in the settings page.

Known Issues

There were initial issues with the Explore Page, as well as overall Android Studio setbacks, but both were resolved by the final application product.
