Installation

File permissions on macOS

• There is a known issue (#249, #256) with file permissions on macOS. To fix it, see the wiki.

UltraStar Songs

Plus character in file path

• Audio, video, and image files will not work if there is a plus character and space character in their path .

Encoding of non-English characters

• Songs files with non-English characters may have issues when not in a Unicode encoding.
  • To fix this, please save the txt files of your songs in UTF-8 encoding.

Media file formats

• Using a video file as audio file is not supported yet. This means you need to have an audio file in addition to your video file.
• mp4 files are not supported on Linux. However, you can use webm respectively vp8 video files as alternative.
• mp3 files with variable bit rate are out of sync after doing skip to next lyrics.
  • This is because of a Unity bug that is currently being worked on by the Unity team.

Configuration

Microphone channels

• Specific microphone channels can't yet be selected for singing.
  • This affects in particular SingStar Wireless microphones.

Song Editor

Microphone Recording in Song Editor

• The "auto" sample rate does not work.
  • Workaround: Set a fix sample rate for your mic in the recording options.

Companion App in Song Editor

• Note recording in the song editor does not yet work together with the Companion App. Use a regular microphone instead.

Android

Samsung Desktop Experience (DeX)

• Buttons do not work or the game is extremely slow when running from Samsung DeX.
  • This is because of a Unity bug that is currently being worked on by the Unity team.
  • However, the game works fine when started normally on the Android device without using Samsung DeX.
