I just switched to an AMD card and amdgpu_top is working out nicely for getting stats about my GPU.
I noticed I need to run it with sudo in order for it to list niri which is my compositor (Wayland).
When I had an NVIDIA card using nvidia-smi, niri was listed without needing sudo.
I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to avoid needing to use sudo to get my compositor's stats. niri has a GPU memory leak and it's often the process I want to check from time to time.
Edit:
Seems like maybe you can add your user to the video, render groups or consider using setcap instead. Is there a preference with either method? Pros / cons, etc..
