First, I would like to thank you for creating MetPy. It is awesome. I looked everywhere for a python module that would work in python 3 and read these level II files I have.

I'm still intermediate in Python and a lot of MetPy is a bit above my head. You posted an example of how to parse and display data from a level III file that was very helpful, but the variables available in level II files are different. Could you please post an example of how to do this with a level II file? That would be awesome.

Thanks again for doing that! I use these level II data to monitor storms in south central Utah so I can predict where flash flooding will occur. I try to document as many floods as I can in the area. I had been using data that the NWS bakes down and dishes out in .gif files. They are quite low resolution and the servers are very unreliable. I found a feed of level II data and was using the Climate Toolkit to convert it into images I can use. I am hoping to use MetPy to read the base scans and export them to images so the process is more automated and friendly when I am out in the field. Thanks for pointing me in the right direciton!

I'll also warn you that (as revealed by the example) the API that exists is really low-level. I've opened #49 as a reminder that we need to add a better one.
