I confirm:

• that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
• that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The game correctly starts in VR and shows the Skydance logo and then the Unreal logo, then goes back although it keeps playing the background music, like if something was running but not displayed. Pressing a button also generates a sound, but nothing appears.

• Start the game under WiVRn.

Notes

In the past this game was starting correctly on Linux. Maybe an update broke it.

Ok, just checked the game's updates on SteamDB --- https://steamdb.info/app/1707990/history/ -- last content update was in June 11 and I played the game after this (got my achievement on June 28).

Also checked the error on proton log and I see that the line with XR_ERROR_CALL_ORDER_INVALID in xrBeginFrame: xrBeginFrame without xrWaitFrame from WiVRn/monado comes from https://github.com/mateosss/monado/commits/mateosss/qwerty/src/xrt/state_trackers/oxr/oxr_session.c which hasn't seen an update since Feb 16, 2021.

I'm puzzled on what might have caused the game to break.

Oh, I was looking at the wrong repository for monado. The right one is https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/monado/monado/-/blob/main/src/xrt/state_trackers/oxr/oxr_session.c?ref_type=heads and it had newer updates.

Apologies. It seems the error comes from WiVRn, not proton. In any fashion, ALVR doesn't work with the game.
