Symptoms

A .NET + XNA 4.0 game, the main menu works, but when you go ingame the FPS counter quickly drops from 60 to 1, then the game crashes.

Reproduction

Install and run the game

The Proton log hints that it needs transcoded variants of song1.wma, song2.wma, and song3.wma. When it can't get any of them, it retries in a loop until it gives up and falls over in faudio.

It takes much longer, but FAudio eventually crashes in the same places with files transcoded to ogg. Possibly some random chance to crash, and because the generated media is so short, it loops through them sooner?

I think the only way that can happen is if activeSong is NULL.

I think the only way that can happen is if activeSong is NULL.

Under GE-Proton it doesn't crash even when there are no transcoded files (plays some screeching sounds for a while, but the game works). Attaching the log just in case it contains something useful to make it not to crash on regular Proton.
