VMAgent with VMSingle: Exposing the vmagent UI does not show any targets

Dear maintainers,

when using VMagent and VMSingle and exposing the vmsingle "UI" via an ingress, I can query prometheus metrics and the like, but the /targets endpoint does not show any targets at all. Even though they are found and being scraped, as I can see their metrics.

Not sure if it is necessary to somehow set the -promscrape.dropOriginalLabels=false command-line flag as stated on the "Discovered targets" tab on that /target endpoint.

If this is necessary, I would like to know how, as I did not find any mention of command line flags that I can handover to the pods via the operator. Could you point me to the proper documentation? Or is there just no documentation or this is not even possible?

I noticed the same. I added the following to the VMSingle config:

  extraArgs:
    promscrape.dropOriginalLabels: "false"

This value then shows up in /flags so it gets picked up. The mention about this command-line flag also disappeared, However, still nothing is shown under Active or Discovered targets either.

operator doesn't support building scrape configuration for VMSingle CR, there's an issue for it
since it doesn't scrape, it has no items in targets page

Thanks for the fast reply. As the metrics somehow show up in the end, I take it that this is just a minor cosmetic issue?

it's not an issue at all. targets are expected to be present only when scraping is enabled, otherwise no data should be there. in your case only vmagent ui should have non empty targets page.
