a stupid git replacement

miningit
miningit - the tiny git alternative

"miningit" can mean anything, depending on how broken your workflow is.

* a short, pronounceable name.
* an insignificant detail people argue about for hours.
* a tiny thing that somehow ends up doing all the work.
* "minimal incremental tool" if you're feeling optimistic.
* "not intended for internet teams" when somebody asks for cloud integration.

description
This is a stupid version control utility.

It does not try to understand your project.
It does not index your life.
It does not connect to a server in another continent.
It tracks changes.
It commits them.
It pushes and pulls when you tell it to.

The entire design assumes that Git is already too complicated.
Everything else is accidental complexity.

features
* small
* fast
* scriptable
* understandable without a management meeting

non-features
* telemetry
* accounts
* synchronization (unless you want it)
* machine learning
* productivity dashboards
* blockchain
* pull requests with 47 emoji reactions
* GitHub Copilot

If you need those things, there are already thousands of applications willing to consume your RAM for them.

**philosophy**
Programs should do one thing well.

Git became too big. Too many commands. Too many concepts.

**miningit simply does version control and gets out of the way.**

Just like the old days — but smaller and less annoying.
