Wizard's project list!

About myself

I've been interested in games ever since I can remember and always wanted to further understand how games actually functioned. It took me a bit of time to actually get started, it all really began back in 2016. I initillay just started off with Unreal Engine 4 but couldn't pursue much due to school stuff, as a result I progress was rather slow and only later in 2018 got really into it, and by 2020 I was able to sell my my plugins and make some money from it (granted not much but not nothing).

Over time, I had fewer things to do in school and shifted more time into expanding my skill set instead. I took whatever idea I had in my mind and put it into a proof of concept to see how far I would get, everytime I hit a ceiling I would go back to the drawing board and start again from a different angle. Granted motivation was a key thing missing most of the time, it felt tiring sometimes, but in the end there was progress nonetheless.

Reflecting back on those moments its crazy to think what someone can achieve on their own.

About my projects

Most of the projects I made were to further my understanding in game development, from making simple games, to seling my services as a freelance as well as contributing to an Engine itself.

For instance all of the plugins I made were to solve a particular issue that I faced:

  • Colorwheel: I needed to a color wheel, because for whatever reason unreal did not provide one, then I simply made one and made it available for everyone else for free. I thought of it as a basic and essential feature in any GUI.

  • BasicUtils: The main purpose was to fill the gaps for conversion nodes as well as any extra goodies I needed, like exposing to data serialization to blueprints.

  • CommandManager: I got tired of having to ducttape my code always to in order to make test cases so instead I figured out how to register commands in the engine and again expose it to blueprints to make it much much easier to test and access things.
