📋 Prerequisites

Node.js 18 or higher
PostgreSQL database
OpenAI API key (optional - graceful fallback available)

🚀 Quick Start

1. Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/assist-hub.git cd assist-hub

2. Install Dependencies

npm install

3. Environment Setup

Create a .env file in the root directory:

Database (required)

DATABASE_URL=your_postgresql_connection_string

OpenAI (optional - AI features will gracefully degrade without this)

OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_api_key

Session Security (required for production)

SESSION_SECRET=your_secure_session_secret

For OAuth authentication (optional)

REPLIT_DOMAINS=your-domain.com

4. Database Setup

Push database schema

npm run db:push

5. Create Admin User

Run the admin creation script

npx tsx create-admin.ts

This will create an admin user with credentials that will be displayed in the terminal output. Save these credentials securely as they provide full administrative access to your platform. 6. Start Development Server

npm run dev
