Is wf-panel suitable for other compositors?

Primarily I'm interested in application menu, but it is flickering and unclickable on Sway and LabWC, and invisible on Hyprland.

It is indeed supposed to work, with the only bit of functionality missing being the « autohide » behaviour (unless the compositor implements wf-shell-protocol, but wayfire is the only we (or i) know of). But if you just want it to stay out all the time, it should work just fine.

Quickly testing here, things seem to still work fine, so i invite you to open an issue describing the bug, with your system information and if possible a recording :)

I believe window previews in window-list and keyboard layout are also wayfire specific.

For the most part it should work and I fully welcome bug reports that state otherwise.

Vladimir-csp has already opened #506, looks like a pretty complete report to me, although i have no idea what the problem might be :P
