ALPHA — USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. This project is experimental and may change daily. Interfaces, defaults, and guidance can change. Pin a reviewed release, retain backups, and validate it in your project. Tests do not certify production readiness. Provided under the MIT License without warranty.
All earlier template branch tips are included in Alpha1; main remains the default public template branch and contains this same release commit. Historical branches and tags are retained. The original SFWA-WTL-TEMPLATE repository is independent and was not modified.
What changed
- Added explicit alpha release IDs and numeric ordering, stable-channel isolation, alpha discovery, final-release graduation, and protection against implicit downgrades.
- Added
systemx --versionand selected release-channel reporting. New installs remain pinned with manual updates; startup updates remain opt-in. - Kept updates additive: existing project files, folders, records, root launchers, and earlier snapshots are preserved.
- Added public alpha/release guidance, discoverable MIT licensing, contribution/support/security reporting paths, issue templates, and updated wiki navigation and version history.
- Kept exact
.SYSTEMXcasing, optional lowercase alias, first-run setup, local operation logs, and reversible uninstall/restore.
Upgrade and install
The public tag is v1.6.0-alpha.1; Python metadata and the wheel use 1.6.0a1, the same release in Python's version format. The library is distributed on GitHub, not PyPI.
python -m pip install "git+https://github.com/WayneTechLab/dotSYSTEMX.git@v1.6.0-alpha.1"
systemx --version
systemx first-run --target "/path/to/project"
systemx first-run --target "/path/to/project" --applyExisting users: managers from 1.5.0 or earlier cannot parse alpha IDs. Upgrade the external CLI first, then explicitly unpin, preview/select the alpha defaults, and repin. Preserved root managers are not silently overwritten. Follow alpha migration.
Verification and downloads
All six platform jobs passed: Windows, macOS, and Linux on Python 3.9/3.13. The suite contains 108 tests, with filesystem-dependent skips where appropriate. The 94-file distribution is manifest-verified. The wheel's complete file inventory and bytes match the reviewed source; isolated package setup, export, uninstall, restore, and package removal passed. Real 1.3.0, 1.4.0, and 1.5.0 upgrades preserved existing root files and earlier snapshots.
Assets include the folder-only ZIP, Python wheel, SHA-256 checksum file, and sanitized verification report. Checksums establish integrity, not an independent publisher signature. No hosted application, OS daemon, or MCP service is deployed by this release.
