What problem does this address?
#155 removed the "Reply with AI" action from the Comments screen due to UX and placement concerns. However, moderators and editors still benefit from assistance when responding to comments, especially when:
- responses should align with Guidelines (aka editorial standards)
- context from the post content matters
- tone and consistency are important across replies
There is currently no structured way to explore AI-assisted comment responses in a way that fits moderator workflows.
What is your proposed solution?
Let's look to introduce a new Experiment that adds a "Suggest reply" capability for comments.
This would:
- Integrate into the Comments screen (row action or inline UI) and the Activity dashboard widget (for recent comments)
- Generate a suggested response based on the comment content, associated post content, Guidelines
- Allow users to review and optionally insert or edit the suggestion before replying (this is important as the intent is not to make this an automated AI reply)
- Include a "Regenerate reply" option should the original/prior reply not quite match the human's expectation
