Privates and Publics passed by reference are not updated

The following code is from jpmoschi and demonstrates that publics and privates passed by reference are not updated:

Note: to compile you must have /memvar /ins /undeclared and add a reference to XSharp.Core, XSharp.RT and XSharp.VFP.

Ah, no, unfortunately there seems to be a side effect, test C698 is failing now. Cut down sample, the following prints "old" instead of "PARAMETERS" (the var does not get updated in the callee)
