external display background color incorrect after suspend

When waking from suspend, with my laptop closed and an external monitor connected, the background color of the desktop is wrong.

Before sleep the color is correct based on my settings. It then turns grey when the monitor turns back on after suspend.

System Information

• Lock is using hyprlock via systemd
• timeouts via hypridle via systemd
• shikane for managing display layouts (laptop and monitor dual, laptop clamshell, hdmi projector and laptop)

Indeed, guess something strange is going on here. Need to look into it more.

I've been doing a bit more investigating and this seems to be related to some interaction between niri and kanshi/shikane... I just disabled shikane entirely, and now niri's display management actually seems much more stable and predictable. What I lose is the ability to have pre-configured display layouts and combinations.
