If you use Google Voice but only have a flip phone, it’s nearly impossible to use functionally. Unless you can install the GV app on your phone there’s no other way to use gv texting except through email.
The Google Voice app is hard to manage with a dpad only phone. This app was constructed with dpad phones in mind.
For me the main reason I built this app was because the regular Google Voice app doesn’t work at all on my phone (Kyocera e4610). Google play issues stop the app from working and even using a web app of the google voice website doesn’t work due to an outdated WebView on my phone.
What happens is every time someone texts you, you get an email notification, and to reply you have to open your emails, find the right thread, and type your response. Scrolling back through conversation history means digging through your inbox. On a flip phone, this is especially painful.
This app changes all that. It connects directly to your Gmail account using your Google app password and pulls in your Google Voice texts — both sent and received — displaying them in a clean, familiar SMS-style conversation view purpose-built for flip phones. Conversations are threaded, easy to scroll through, and update automatically in the background. No more hunting through emails. No more missing context from earlier in a conversation.

Being that the app is doing a lot of email syncing, it can drain the battery quickly. Hopefully someday I’ll figure out a system to slow that down.
This app has the ability to go through your history and put both your sent and received texts directly in the app. However, any text that you sent through the GV app, or the GV website will not show up. Only texts that you sent with email in the past, or through this app will show up.
